The Proposed Intervention Programme:

Under the Programme, Twin e-learning Centers are proposed to be set-up in 40 urban locations in the country for the benefit of urban poor (adolescent youths)-having passed at least class 12 from recognized Boards.

Each Centre will be set-up in a 2-room accommodation (hired or volunteered)- one room shall be the Computer Centre, having 10 computers with all necessary facilities (LAN, internet, printers etc.) and the other room shall be the class room for teaching in English and other soft skills- such as-

 Basic Management including retail sales management
 Team work and Leadership qualities
 Personality development, career opportunities & counseling
 Gender issues
 Reproductive & sexual health, HIV/AIDS

These skills shall be imparted through awareness creation workshops and lecture sessions.

Each Centre may run in three-four shifts for 4 hours each- covering 20 students (children) in each shift. The course curriculum, as prescribed, shall be designed in consultation with IT Companies/BPOs, to make it tailor made (technical skills-wise) for industry requirements.

The course curriculum shall cover basic computer knowledge and all other applications required in modern operations in IT service sectors, BPOs and retail sectors. Extensive coaching in English language (with practical/written assignments) is intended to make them proficient in communication skills in the language as needed by service sectors. The course duration shall be for six months. The Training programme may seek/facilitate volunteers from Corporate IT institutions, BPOs and Retail sectors for skill training in computer applications and soft skills.
